Artist's Comments

Inspired by my 3D Foundations Professor's dog, this is the 23rd installment in my Tribal Series - and I have to say I find it to be one of my personal bests in regards to leaping from the black paper. I don't usually draw dogs, there's something about them I find tricky to create, but this one came naturally. I was incredibly taken by the photograph of my professor's dog. Her (the dog's) eyes were simply stunning, and I hadn't realized just how pointed and pronounced so many of the shapes of a doberman are!

I really like the tribal markings! I also like how you draw on black paper. I should give that a try sometime. The only thing I think is a little off is that the Doberman's eyes seem a bit too close together. Other than that, very nicely done.

Black paper is one of the most unique, fun and challenging (well, to most people it's challenging, though to me it comes easy naturally) ways to draw. It's dynamic, epic and dramatic! Just hard to find black paper. :P

I think that the eyes might be slightly close, but I was looking at it after reading your comment and I think part of that is the brown markings on her muzzle that make it look a little off. I'm not sure. Good critique, though!

This is marvelous! I love dogs, and this one is done very well! Dobermans are nice dogs, and this one has a glint in her eyes that I can't help but adore. The nose is really well done, and you pulled off the black coat on the black background really well. My friend was leaning over my shoulder when I clicked on this, and we both agreed that you have a great talent, and that her eyes are wonderfully done.

Aw, thank you and your friend! I really loved the look of my professor's doberman, she had this look in her eyes that I couldn't ignore and had to try and draw. I'm glad you enjoy it!
